Life can change in a second. For 16-year olds Sophie and Holly, it was a fight they never expected.
Because of people like you, Sophie was given a fighting chance, and Holly found the strength to reconenct, heal, and discover light in the smallest of moments.
Sophie's Story
A flu had Sophie fighting for her life. She was given a fighting chance thanks to donations.
Every second counts, Sophie was in urgent need of a life-saving service that was available an hour and a half away at Gold Coast University Hospital. She didnt have that kind of time. Sophie went into cardiac arrest.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen to my child. I didn’t realise how sick she was. It was hard to comprehend that this machine was the only hope of saving my daughter’s life, and even then, it wasn’t guaranteed,” Said Amanda, Sophie's mum.
Holly's Story
What seemed like bloating, turned into a 32-centimetre growth. Holly had to fight for her life.
Holly wasn't expecting that the upcoming summer holidays would be replaced with hospital rooms and doctors. The discovery of the 32-centimetre growth would turn into Holly's worst nightmare. A diagnosis no one was expecting - especically at only 16-years-old.
“It felt like our entire world came crashing down,” said Mark, Holly's dad. “It was the most traumatising thing I have ever gone through.”
